Important Guidelines
- Book pet transport at purchase or “My Trips”; fill pet travel form online for check-in. Arrive more than 2 hours early (domestic) or 3 hours (international).
- Pets and carriers must comply EXACTLY with size/weight rules. No wheels, mesh/leakproof/vented, anti-escape, and must be clean and safe for your pet.
- All pets require current rabies vaccine (min 30 days old, or valid booster if 15+ months old) and current deworming (<6 months); bring paperwork for EACH border and keep digital/physical copies. Pet must be healthy and at least 8–10 weeks old.
- Sign the airline’s liability waiver/acceptance form at the airport. Security can inspect carrier/pet at any stage (not under airline control).
- For checked pets: carrier must have owner/pet contact info and ID visibly attached. Retrieve pets promptly on arrival; Volaris does not hold animals after landing.
- Strollers count as baggage (carry-on or checked); must fit size and weight limits if used as pet transport device.
- Traveling to Mexico: have full health certificate, all dogs/cats free of parasites (esp. screwworm), and bring proof of compliance with relevant SENASICA/SAGARPA or CDC/USDA rules as per origin.
Woofly Tips
- Acclimate your pet to the travel carrier well ahead of time; "first-time flyers" or anxious animals are the most common for denied boarding.
- Measure, weigh, and double-check carrier and pet ahead—gate and desk crew enforce limits strictly.
- Bring all vaccine/health/deworming papers for every entry/exit; some countries will refuse/retrieve animals for missing/expired docs.
- Brachycephalic (flat-faced) and small breeds face increased health risk (and are discouraged by Volaris); consider safety and discuss with your vet.
- Dangerous, aggressive, or embargoed breeds are never accepted and may be confiscated even if booked—check airline and country lists before travel.
- If transferring between multiple airlines, each segment must be booked and checked separately—Volaris does not transfer pets between carriers.
- Never sedate your animal for flying unless you have explicit written instructions signed by a vet—sedated pets are routinely denied for safety reasons.
