Important Guidelines
- Booking is strongly recommended but not required; check-in must be done at the ticket counter, not curbside or self-service kiosks.
- Animals must remain in the carrier at all times during security, check-in, and flight.
- Pets must be odorless, harmless, and non-disruptive; airline staff have discretion to refuse any animal.
- No emotional support, therapy, or comfort animals are allowed under DOT new rules; pets travel as pets only.
- Pet size and carrier restrictions are strictly enforced to fit under passenger seat.
- Pets traveling to Puerto Rico require a rabies vaccination certificate.
- Limit one container per guest; maximum two pets of the same species allowed in one container if comfortably accommodated.
Woofly Tips
- Choose carrier carefully to ensure it fits airline size limits and offers pet comfort; pet’s head must stay inside at all times.
- Bring updated vaccination and health records if traveling to Puerto Rico or U.S. Virgin Islands.
- Arrive early at the airport to allow sufficient time for check-in and TSA inspection.
- Contact Spirit Airlines customer service for any special questions or if traveling with multiple pets.
- Acclimate your pet to its carrier well in advance to reduce travel stress and risk of denied boarding.
