General Policy Overview

  • PETS IN CABIN: Only small dogs and cats (≥16 weeks, ≤7kg including carrier) permitted, 1 per passenger, in Economy/Premium Economy only. Carrier must fit under seat (max hard: 36 x 33 x 19cm; soft: 40 x 28 x 25cm), waterproof & ventilated.
  • PETS AS CHECKED BAGGAGE/HOLD: If pet exceeds cabin size/weight, or for routes not allowing cabin pets, dogs/cats travel as checked baggage or cargo. Max 32kg/70lbs for Europe, Argentina, Venezuela; 45kg/99lbs elsewhere. Must use IATA crate.
  • PETS AS CARGO (Manifest): All other pets (birds, rabbits, reptiles, fish) require specialist arrangement through LATAM Cargo. Also required for embargoed breeds/species, or when traveling to countries with extra import controls.
  • BREED RESTRICTIONS: Snub-nosed (brachycephalic) and "dangerous" breeds not accepted as hold pets, except limited Brazilian domestic routes. Full list changes—always confirm before booking.
  • EMOTIONAL/SERVICE ANIMALS: Service dogs permitted free in cabin on all eligible routes; emotional support pets allowed on some LATAM flights within South America/USA/Colombia; must meet size, doc, and route rules.

Pet-Specific Guidance

  • Dog: Cabin travel (if under 7kg, ≥16 weeks, 1 per pax), otherwise checked or (for banned/oversize breeds) cargo. Health/vaccine certs always required. No snub-nosed/dangerous breeds internationally, except select Brazilian domestic.
  • Cat: Same as dog. No snub-nosed cats (Persian, Himalayan, Exotic Shorthair, Burmese, etc.) in hold except select Brazil domestics.
  • Bird, Rabbit, Reptile, Fish: Only via manifest cargo; not allowed as typical cabin/hold pets.

Fees & Booking

  • Cabin Domestic: BRL 200 / CLP 50,000 / COP 60,000 / USD 45 (Peru/Ecuador)
  • International: ~USD 200+ (fees vary by route/class).
  • Book pets as soon as possible—bookings can close as early as 48 hours before flight (cabin) and up to 60 days in advance for hold/cargo.
  • Bring all documentation (health, rabies, import/export certificates, service or emotional support animal certification as needed).

Woofly Tips

  • Always confirm route eligibility and availability before ticketing, as regulations often change and space per flight is limited.
  • Banned breed/pet list changes—contact customer service and read latest policy for your route.
  • For U.S. entry: dogs must be at least 6 months, microchipped, and CDC rules must be followed. For EU: 7 months from South America, strict vaccination and import rules.
  • Arrive 3 hours prior domestic, 4 hours international for check-in with pet.
