General Policy Overview

  • Pets in Cabin: Only trained guide and assistance dogs recognized by ADI, IGDF, or Assistance Dogs UK are permitted, with advance arrangement & documentation. Emotional support or therapy dogs not accepted[1][2][6][7].
  • Pets as Checked Baggage/Cargo: Not accepted under any circumstances.
  • Breed Restrictions: No breed restriction for certified service dogs, but all must comply with destination vaccination and pet entry laws.

For Guide/Assistance Dogs

  • Book in advance and provide certification showing affiliation with ADI, IGDF, or Assistance Dogs UK.
  • Dog must wear an identifying harness or jacket and sit at the handler's feet, secured by a harness/seatbelt (not in a seat).
  • Carry up-to-date EU Pet Passport, or third-country vet health certificate, and all destination-required vaccination documentation.
Responsibility for correct paperwork lies with the passenger.
  • Max 4 assistance/guide dogs per flight; each dog travels free of charge (with owner-provided containers/food/water if needed).

Woofly Tips

  • Double-check all paperwork requirements, as Ryanair requires proof that your guide/assistance dog is recognized by one of the official bodies on every applicable route.
  • Contact the destination airport in advance if in doubt about your dog’s passport or entry eligibility.
  • If you are visually impaired but do not require airport assistance, still notify Ryanair when you book to ensure a safety briefing in person.
  • No animals of any type may travel in the hold, as excess baggage, or as cargo under any circumstances.
